NSW Police in Woy Woy following alleged machete attack
NSW police have established a strike force after a man was killed in an apparent “targeted” machete attack on the state’s Central Coast.
The man, believed to be a 41-year-old local was found unconscious at Woy Woy – about 80km north of Sydney – with multiple stab wounds, including to his neck, about 6.15pm.
Despite the effort of police officers and paramedics, the man died on Macarthur Street.
Police believe the man was stabbed several times on nearby Railway Street.
Multiple crime scenes have been set up across Woy Woy.
In a statement, NSW police said they had established a strike force into what they believe was a targeted incident.
“While the investigation is in its infancy, it’s believe the incident was targeted and there is no ongoing threat to the local community,” police said in a statement.
